Research Direction:
The overall mission of our division is to fully characterize the swine diseases of the gastrointes¬tinal tract (GI) caused by Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV), Transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), Porcine rotavirus (PoRV), Porcine circovirus (PCV), Porcine Parvovirus (PPV) and so on, and to develop effective measures and products to control these diseases. The research interests focus on:
1. Etiology and epidemiology research. Continue to track the novel and variant pathogens of swine digestive tract infectious diseases in China, carry out etiological and molecular epidemiological studies, discover and isolate, identify new and mutated strains.
2. Research on molecular pathogenic mechanism and immune mechanism. Starting from the two aspects of pathogens and hosts, carry out research on pathogenicity, natural immunity and acquired immunity.
3. Research on prevention and control technology and products (vaccine, antibody, diagnostic technology). To develop safe and effective conventional vaccines, new vaccines, therapeutic antibodies and antiviral drugs, and develop sensitive, specific, high-throughput and easy-to-use diagnostic methods or diagnostic kits.
Professional Major:
Prof. Feng’s main research fields include: Diagnosis, prevention and control techniques of swine viral diarrhea diseases, Development of vaccines against swine viral diarrhea pathogens, Molecular epidemiology of swine viral diarrhea pathogens, Molecular pathogenesis of viral diarrhea pathogensand Viral diarrhea pathogens-host cell interactions.
